The NVSL will be making a number of changes this Spring season and we want you to be a part of those changes. What are we changing? Fees, number of games, support for managers with the website, registering players, and the start date for the Spring season. In addition, as we do every season, we are communicating with the referees to improve officiating, and will continue to hold meetings and referee development classes toward that end. We hope these changes will improve the league to meet your requests.
Spring fees for Pay in full:
$1650 if paid by February 25
$1700 if received after February 25 and before March 1
$1800 if received after March 1 (subject to availability)
Teams are allowed (22) players, and a minimum (18) players must be registered with Fairfax County address. All players must be registered to play.
Spring fees for Individual registration:
$500 initial payment by manager when registering team. Individual players will pay $85/ea.
All teams are required to have sixteen registered (permanent) players from previous (existing team rule). Teams must have (22) players, and (18) players must be registered Fairfax County resident. Once Team has reached 22 paid/registered players the manager will be refunded the $500 deposit. All players must be registered to play.
Deadlines for payment are set to identify numbers of teams sooner, so we can start early.
* Unlike other leagues, the NVSL includes USASA/US Soccer Affiliation in team fees. Our fees are structured based on a flat team fee, but we provide teams the ability to register as individuals at a slightly higher cost to the team (due to additional cost to league), however the end cost is less because player affiliation is already built into fees.
** The NVSL does not require players to register at a third party website to affiliate, but does require all players to complete a waiver as part of their registration to meet insurance requirements.
The league administrators would like to increase the number of games to 10, but that means we will not be rescheduling games randomly. Moving forward, a schedule will be given to managers and they will have 5-7 days to schedule changes. Rescheduling will only take place for weather cancelations (not abandonment), State and National Cups, and case by case other reasons. Managers should take religious holidays, planned team events, times of games, locations of games, etc. when reviewing preliminary schedule. In addition we will be restructuring the Divisions to six teams. This will help balance the levels of play in each group/division and give a two game match up for each opponent.
The league will assist paid teams and managers in scheduling preseason games on league fields, assist in finding sponsorship, and provide website support in registering players, adding team photos, offer player cards for registered (paid) players participating in sanctioned tournaments, and will provide league approved roster prior to matches, etc. If the season finishes on time and permits are still in affect the league will schedule additional games and/or a low cost tournament.
Teams can expect 90 minute games (when started on time and as scheduled) with three refs that include: a center and two lines men; quick adjudication of red cards and suspensions when appealed in accordance with bylaws and policies or procedures; awards will be given to teams for 1st place finish. This may be a uniquely designed Champions T-shirts or trophies.
Teams must pay on time; review preliminary schedule; be ready to start on time; work with league administrator to add players prior to game; insure roster is available and players have their IDs prior to scheduled game start; and participate in league meetings and league management.
Spring meeting will be held at Club House located in Kings Park Shopping Center (8970 Burke Lake Rd., Springfield, VA 22151) between Zinga and Hunan West, on 28 February, 2018 at 7pm. Finger food, water, soda, beer, and wine will be provided.
